Prélude à l’opéra
January 21 - January 24
A little ray of hope during this critical time for the vocal milieu: the company Chants Libres is pleased to present its Prélude à l’opéra from January 21 to 24, 2021. Filmed in the deserted Monument-National, this digital event outmanoeuvres constraints imposed by COVID in order to present you with several excerpts from L’orangeraie, the opera that saw its creation postponed to October 2021.
To this end, performer Sébastien Ricard embodies Mikaël, a writer and key character in Larry Tremblay’s work, who leads us to experience absence in all of its scenic dimensions. Armed by the words and music of L’orangeraie, he imagines, sees and hears the artists who, like him, haunt the empty hall.
At his side will be the musicians of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne as well as artists of the original cast, who will perform their scores while negotiating their own interpretive challenges. Offering a collective exploration of the upcoming opera that leaves space for imagination… and for hope.
