The Hudson Village Theatre presents
Written by Daniel MacIvor
Directed by Dean Patrick Fleming
NOMINATED FOR THE GOVERNOR GENERAL’S AWARD
Marion Bridge premiered at Mulgrave Road Theatre in 1999. Since it’s premiere, it has been produced at multiple theatres including: The Globe Theatre (London), Theatre New Brunswick, Neptune Theatre (Nova Scotia) and Ottawa Little Theatre.
The play tells the story of three sisters who reunite at their childhood home in Cape Breton to care for their dying mother. As they learn to live with each other after so many years apart, they discover the meaning of family, and the possibility that their lives can be different from what they expected and what they have come to accept.
Marion Bridge is a moving dramatic-comedy by one of Canada’s most acclaimed playwrights. It is funny, heart-warming and breathtakingly lyrical.
“… a sparkling crisp script, beautifully structured, with snappy, funny lines that dart in and out quickly like swallows, not interrupting the emotional drama of the story.” – Halifax Chronicle-Herald
“His writing makes characters seem real, with audiences unable to do much of anything, other than understand and build relationships with his creations.” – Mooney on Theatre
