Agora de la Danse – Édifice Wilder, 1435 Rue de Bleury #102
Montreal, QC H3A 2H7 Canada

After reinterpreting a beloved fairy tale, choreographer Hélène Blackburn is back with a dream team to explore an archetype buried in our collective psyche — the monster. Co-created with lighting magician Lucie Bazzo, this piece for four dancers and three musicians from the group Dear Criminals blithely transmutes elements of daily life, the better to awaken imaginary fears. Once they become familiar, the fears give way to the phantasmagorical.

Presented by Cas Public at the Agora de la danse on October 4 & 5

Performances from October 2-12
TOHU, 2345 Rue Jarry E
Montreal, QC H1Z 4P3 Canada

Following their successful first year at Montréal Complètement Cirque in 2017, energetic Cirque Alfonse is back home with Tabarnak! The trad-rock musical fresco praises heaven and hell, as well as the church’s spirit of communion, and revisits the sacred in a delicious irreverent way. With this liberating swearword, the company gives us an unbridled surreal high mass. From the basement to the nave, the altar and the choir, Cirque Alfonse’s dwellers of the past enter this symbolic space, giving it a revamp.

Presented by TOHU from October 2-12

BJM Triple Bill

October 5, 2019 @ 8:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)
Performances from October 2-5
Place des Arts – Théâtre Maisonneuve, 60 Boulevard de Maisonneuve O
Montreal, QC H2X 1Y9 Canada

Beloved by Montreal audiences, BJM travels the world with a repertoire that showcases a very expressive athletic style blending elements of ballet and contemporary dance. This triple bill features choreographer Itzik Galili’s O Balcão de Amor, a piece infused with Caribbean heat and humour and pulsating with the energy of youth and a touch of absurdity, and Casualties of Memory, a highly physical work that celebrates life to the rhythm of percussive darbuka music. For his third collaboration with BJM, Andonis Foniadakis presents Soul, a vertiginous duo inspired by the song Ball and Chain, made famous by Janis Joplin and covered here by Quebec’s Angel Forrest. The hard-hitting music and lyrics mirror the technical and sensual intensity of the dance. Breathtaking!

Presented by Danse Danse at Place des Arts from October 2-5
