Montreal, May 28th 2021 – In honour of the twenty-fifth year of Centaur Theatre’s edgy, independent theatre festival, Wildside 2022 puts Montreal artists centre stage. For its silver edition, Wildside is seeking unique projects that are already under development. It will support the next stage of growth leading up to the first encounter with an audience through Wildside. Centaur is seeking artists who are willing to work in a generous and collaborative way and every theatrical and performative form is welcome, including multidisciplinary works and shows with more than one theatrical form for either live on stage or online presentations. The development-residency period is from November 8 to 29, 2021 and the technical rehearsals and festival performances are from January 3 to 22, 2022.
“The vitality and creativity of Montreal artists is unique and impressive. With the spotlight on local talent for the 25th anniversary, and Wildside’s reputation for adventurous experimentation and risk-taking ingenuity, we know the theatre community will rise to the occasion. We’re so excited to see what pops up on our radar,” says Eda Holmes, Centaur’s Artistic and Executive Director.
For those wishing to apply, Centaur requests a one-page project description that includes how Centaur’s development support will benefit the production and why it is a good fit for Wildside. Archival video footage and any other available visuals are also required, as well as the team biographies, the script, and any other pertinent support materials.
Centaur Theatre will provide project-specific dramaturgical support; production and promotional support; a two-week development period on stage in November 2021; one week at the beginning of January 2022 for technical rehearsals; followed by five public performances. Each accepted project will receive a $3,000 remuneration.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: July 5, 2021.
