Repercussion Theatre presents new play readings in 2nd edition of Words With Will

Readings of plays-in-development and roundtable discussions to be streamed March 2-4

Launched in 2016, Words with Will is Repercussion Theatre’s ongoing play development series that supports new plays by contemporary Canadian writers. These plays are inspired by and/or talk back to Shakespeare in some way, and allow audiences to engage with the work at various stages of the process.

For the 2nd edition of Words With Will from March 2-4, 2021, Repercussion Theatre is fostering the development of two new works by three playwrights: Wardo by Jimmy Blais and Black Fly by work-and-life-partners, Amy Lee Lavoie and Omari Newton. These projects promise to continue pushing theatre-makers’ and audiences’ reflections on Shakespeare.

After receiving support from Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal, excerpts from these exciting plays-in-progress will be shared publicly as part of the Words With Will livestream events.

On March 2nd, join in for a Words With Will Roundtable with this year’s writers as well as 1st edition playwrights, Erin Shields and Jeff Ho. March 3rd will focus on Black Fly and March 4th will be all about Wardo — with both livestreams featuring conversations with the writers and their creative team, as well as sneak-peaks at the play and process.

In tandem with the Words With Will series and inspired by one of the two plays-in-development, Repercussion is holding an online art auction for an organization that is doing direct, vital work. Read more here.
