New Work @ Centaur series kicks off with latest Steve Galluccio play

'At the Beginning of Time' to receive its first public reading online on October 21st

The Centaur Theatre Company has announced that it will be kicking off the first event of its New Work @ Centaur series with the public reading of At the Beginning of Time, a new play by Montreal playwright Steve Gallucio (Mambo Italiano, The St. Leonard Chronicles).

Dramaturged by the Shaw Festival’s former Artistic Director, Jackie Maxwell, who directed last season’s multi-META-nominated Paradise Lost, Quebec’s elder and health care systems are in the spotlight in this very personal story about losing a spouse to Alzheimer’s in the midst of a pandemic, told with Steve’s characteristic blend of heartache and hilarity. At The Beginning Of Time is a love letter to his late husband, Yves, which chronicles their journey navigating this cruel, degenerative disease together…yet apart.

“It is always thrilling to have the chance to discover a new play in progress from an established Montreal writer and At the Beginning of Time is no exception. We have been working closely with Steve to prepare his latest creation for its first public reading, an exciting phase in the development of a script from this beloved Centaur playwright,” says Eda Holmes, Centaur Theatre Artistic & Executive Director.

Confirmed actors for the public reading include Andreas Apergis, Tony Calabretta, Davide Chiazzese and Felicia Shulman.

The reading will be streamed live from the Centaur’s website at 7PM on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020. Admission is free.
