#RiseMTL is Montreal Theatre Hub’s new journalistic series featuring local artists and companies who are spearheading creative community initiatives for artistic and social activity in response to COVID-19.

The presentation of The Rocky Horror Show may be an annual Halloween tradition at MainLine Theatre, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it in April. #RockyMainLine Trivia is coming to the public as an online Fringe Social after the 30th anniversary of the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival was postponed due to COVID-19.

Kenny Streule, Associate Director and Producer of the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival, as well as the host of the evening, says, “We love Rocky Horror. Since we are all inside right now, the MainLine team has been trying to figure out how we can contribute in keeping spirits up during these unprecedented times. We started thinking about how much everyone loves Rocky and figure we could make an evening where we could gather with our community to celebrate, and nothing like a healthy competition of knowledge on a cult classic.”

After four years of performing in Rocky Horror as The Narrator, Streule knows how important #RockyMainline is in bringing the community together.

“This strange show about lovers who meet a mad scientist who is building the perfect man for all of them to explore their sexuality with an alien force driving the entire operation unites us all. To be honest, I never thought I would write a sentence like that in my life, but that’s the beauty of #RockyMainLine, suddenly anyone is doing the unexpected.”

Whether you’re a long-time vetran of Rocky Horror, or someone who has just begun to experience the cult-classic, the #RockyMainLine Virtual Quiz Night promises to be an evening filled with fun, laughs and community.

“Currently, we are all facing a huge challenge with this crisis, but our community is stepping up to the challenge, with various programs to encourage the growth of the art scene while being at home, to virtual performances and to so many donors helping out. Those are all incredible gestures that will keep us moving forward and arriving at the end of this all together. We still need support but with how generous everyone has been so far with their creations and engagement, I am sure we will get out of this together cause we are Montreal.”

The Fringe Social: #RockyMainLine Virtual Quiz Night takes place on Thursday, April 16th, 2020 at 7:30pm.
