During her time in Montreal, Alisha Ruiss has performed in everything from operetta (McGill Savoy Society) to musical Shakespeare adaptations (Repercussion Theatre, Pumpkin Theatre) to video and computer games (KOEI, CREO). She has been published as a theatre reviewer on Montreal Theatre Hub and essayist for Convivium magazine.
She has produced several multi-genre cabarets including her solo show, Single Serving Package, presented in Toronto, New York City and Montreal to enthusiastic audiences. In the summer of 2010, she co-wrote and co-produced a poetry/dance/music collaboration called Get Happy, with poet Nick Power which was performed as part of the Figure of Speech series at the Majlis Theatre in Toronto, and subsequently at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2011. 2013 marked her first official published songwriting credit for A Prince’s Shadow on Jonathan Davis’ album, Open Shore.
Most recently, her work includes stepping in for Marie-Denise Pelletier in the Just For Laughs production of Fame in summer of 2018 with only a day’s notice. Her students have recently performed in Montreal productions of CHICAGO and ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
After completing her Masters Degree in Opera, Jordanne received a scholarship and moved to New York City to study intensively under D.M.A Michael Warren for three years, one of New York City’s top vocal coaches with students on Broadway, in major opera houses around the world, and working as University professors for vocal arts accross the USA and Canada. Jordanne is now completing her training as a certified Alexander Technician, enabling her to correct postural & habitual body movements which impact versatility of sound and vocal power. Her work with Michael Warren & Alexander technique is the foundation of technique used at Express Voice Studio. She is also simultaneously completing a second Masters Degree in Jazz Composition and Performance at Mcgill.
Jordanne’s students include University theatre students, recording artists, professional actors & voice actors, and beginner aspiring singers.
