Casteliers, Puppet Animation Scotland and Magnetic North are jointly offering a creative residency for professional puppeteers from Quebec and Scotland. The residency creates the opportunity for the development of two new projects mixing theatre, puppetry and stop motion animation, and encourages creative skills exchange and collaboration across artforms.
The residency is in two parts:
- Edinburgh, 20-31 January 2020, as part of a “Rough Mix” residency, led by the artistic director of Magnetic North, Nicholas Bone, followed by the Manipulate Visual Theatre Festival, 1-8 February 2020.
- Montréal, 17-28 February 2020, followed by the Festival de Casteliers, 4-8 March 2020.
The residency’s objectives are:
- to offer two experienced puppeteers, one from Quebec and one from Scotland, the opportunity to each research and develop a new project that uses theatre, puppetry and stop-motion animation techniques;
- to support the development of new creative partnerships and a network for the dissemination of puppetry and animation arts.
