Infinithéâtre’s Playwright’s Unit, endorsed by the Quebec Drama Federation (QDF) and the English-language Arts Network (ELAN): The Segal Centre; The Centaur Theatre; Grove Hall in Huntington; Mainline Theatre; Teesri Duniya Theatre and Scapegoat Carnival Theatre Company, is giving voice to the Anglo experience in Québec on stages across the country. The Unit celebrates the diverse and unique Anglo experiences peppered throughout our province and culminates with a week of free public staged readings at notable Montréal theatres where audience feedback takes centre stage.
The inaugural cohort of The Unit was a grand success with four of the plays developed being picked up for full production in future seasons including Patrick Pietrykowski’s On the Line which played to sold out houses in Huntingdon, Québec and Michaela Di Cesare’s Successions was part of 2017/18 Centaur Theatre season; Stephen Orlov’s Birthmark had a hugely successful run with Tessri Duniya last Fall and Joseph Shrage’s and Alison Darcy’s Yev just completed an equally successful run at MAI this Spring.
Interested writers are to submit a completed early draft of a new and unproduced play by June 14, 2019. Writers are paid and must be able to commit to a 12-month process of group workshops to be led by Alexandria Haber (Playwright & Dramaturg) and Guy Sprung (Artistic Director, Infinithéâtre). All meetings and workshops will take place in Montréal.
