Job Posting: Geordie Theatre seeks Schools Liaison

The Schools Liaison is the primary contact in all negotiations with schools. They are responsible for the solicitation and sales of the 2Play Tour and all Mainstage School Matinee performances. The Schools Liaison supports the vision of the company, as provided by the Artistic Director, and works under the direct supervision of the Managing Director with additional direction and support by the Artistic Associate.

Main responsibilities:

For the 2Play Tour

  • In collaboration with the Artistic Associate, brainstorm, plan, coordinate and carry out initiatives with the general goal of expanding markets, increasing Geordie’s visibility and increasing sales in all areas.
  • Meet targets for touring shows (e.g booking 100+ 2play touring shows by June 28th, 2019 for 2019-20 season; meeting a 75% attendance rate for the school matinees).
  • Write and dispatch all contracts and invoices pertaining to shows booked.
  • Negotiate fees with schools and monitoring receipt of all monies owing.
  • Maintain all databases and ensuring that records are kept up-to-date.
  • Establish touring routes and schedules in keeping with time, objectives, fees, regions, audience specifications and the rules of relevant artists’ unions.
  • Book accommodation and travel arrangements as required.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with schools.
  • Act as the main liaison between Geordie and the touring troupe.
  • Ensure that the Tour Manager keeps and provides appropriate records and reports.
  • Prepare tour schedules, tour manager reports and any other materials required by the touring troupe.
  • Provide frequent status reports to the Artistic Director, Managing Director and Artistic Associate with regards to sales, teacher/student feedback and touring troupe morale.
  • With Marketing & Communications Manager, create and maintain a PAL airlines partnership
  • Look into group sales (e.g. senior residences, church groups, hospitals, etc…) in conjunction with the Artistic Director, Audience & Development Coordinator and Administrative Coordinator.

For School Matinee Performances:

  • Meet targets for School Matinee performances.
  • Write and dispatch all contracts and invoices pertaining to shows booked.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with schools.
  • Negotiate fees with schools and monitoring receipt of all monies owing.
  • Host and organize all schools attending Mainstage Matinees.
  • Secure adequate volunteers for School Matinee performances (minimum 4).
  • Reconcile Box Office reports for School Matinee performances.
  • Provide frequent status reports to the Artistic Director, Managing Director and Artistic Associate with regards to sales and teacher/student feedback.

Additional information:

The job is a part-time (25 hours/week) position, Monday to Friday in the mornings. Some additional hours may be required with occasional evenings and weekends. If circumstances warrant, the Schools Liaison, along with all members of the Geordie Theatre team, must show a willingness to contribute to certain and occasional demands that may fall outside their own domain.

The successful candidate must be bilingual, have an impeccable work ethic, be very organized and be able to equally appreciate the challenges and joys of working in a very fast-paced, liberal, creative, and demanding environment. Strong written and spoken French is an asset.
