Repercussion Theatre and Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal present new Shakespeare-inspired reading series: “WORDS WITH WILL”

This fall season in Montreal, Repercussion Theatre, in collaboration with Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal, presents a new play reading series entitled WORDS WITH WILL, showcasing new works inspired by/dialoguing with/that talks back to Shakespeare.

Come see plays in development being read aloud for a public for the first time and be an integral part in shaping them by participating in talk backs after each performance. The inaugural event, held from October 24th to 28th at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts, will feature Thy Woman’s Weeds by Erin Shields and Cockroach by Jeff Ho.

Both plays are at different stages of development and will be evolving up until (and possibly throughout) the reading series. For now the plays could be described as follows:

Thy Woman’s Weeds by Governor General Award winning playwright Erin Shields, is a theatrical exploration of what it means to be a woman working with Shakespeare today, and features 7 strong female performers.

Cockroach by performer-playwright and Repercussion alumnus Jeff Ho, is a solo piece about his very personal relationship to language, culture, trauma, and the canon.

Audiences are invited to encounter/engage with the plays at this crucial stage of the process, and to participate in discussions following each performance.

Recommended age: 13+ for strong language.

Tickets are Pay-what-you-Will at the door or after the reading. Limited seating. For reservations, please contact 514-931-2644 or
