Pointed Cap Playhouse is thrilled to present the world premiere of Carmilla, a queer vampire burlesque saga at the 2018 St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival, with six shows from May 31st to June 8th, at the legendary home of Montreal burlesque, The Wiggle Room.
Carmilla is a stage adaptation of the Gothic novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, one of the early works of vampire fiction, predating Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Set in a Victorian world, the play explores themes of queer sexuality, gender, sexual agency, and toxic masculinity through burlesque, horror, camp, drama, romance, and sensuality.
Pointed Cap Playhouse is a collaborative theatre and burlesque company led by Sly Feiticeira and St. Stella, focused on innovative, immersive, interactive productions exploring roles of gender, stereotypes, and interpretation of classic tropes using theatre, comedy, music, and striptease.
