MTL Fringe 2018: Sermo Scomber Theatre presents “Don’t Read the Comments”, a new immersive theatrical provocation on sexual encounters and consent

From the creator of the award-winning Fringe hits Talk, Mackerel and In Memoriam, comes a new immersive theatrical provocation at the 2018 St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival.

Set at a TV talk show, Don’t Read the Comments delves into the “grey areas” of sexual encounters and consent. Through the dark art of clown and bouffon and the power of true storytelling, the show invites you to look into its warped mirror and confront what you see staring back.

About the Artist

After graduating from the Dome Theatre, the born-and- raised NDGer left for New York to study at the Experimental Theatre Wing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Upon moving back to the Great White North, Sarah founded the Island Fringe Festival on P.E.I. Her show TALK, MACKEREL was nominated for four Montreal Fringe awards in 2013 and selected as part of the line-up for the Centaur’s 2014 Wildside Festival. Sarah’s site-specific musical IN MEMORIAM premiered at the 2014 Montreal Fringe. It was nominated for two awards, as well as named one of the top plays of 2014 by the Montreal Gazette. Sarah is currently creating her first documentary play through Crow’s Theatre in Toronto.
