MONTREAL, February 6th, 2018. From June 19th to 24th, 2018, Broadway Across Canada and evenko present a limited engagement of the National touring production of the 4-time Tony Award-nominated MOTOWN THE MUSICAL at Montreal’s Place des Arts.
It began as one man’s story became everyone’s music and is now a Broadway musical. MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey, from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat. Featuring classic songs such as My Girl and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, experience the story behind the music in the record-breaking smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL!
MOTOWN THE MUSICAL first premiered on Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 14, 2013. The production was directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, with choreography by Patricia Wilcox, scenic design by David Korins, costumes by ESosa, lighting by Natasha Katz, sound design by Peter Hylenski, and projection design by Daniel Brodie. The musical finished its original Broadway run on January 18, 2015, closing after 37 previews and 738 regular performances, with the national tour being launched in April 2014.
Featuring 50+ songs, the musical includes all of the hits you know and love, including: “ABC”, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “All Night Long (All Night)”, “Get Ready”, “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)”, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”, “I’ll Be There”, “My Girl”, “Please Mr. Postman”, “Stop!
