MONTREAL, Oct 17th, 2017 — On October 28th, 2017 from 8-10 p.m., Confabulation presents (Be)Longing: Stories from the Outside, Looking In. Six storytellers will tell ten minute true stories of their lives. The show is part of the Intercultural Storytelling Festival of Montreal, and will feature stories from both professional storytellers and interesting community members. Confabulation will again be partnering with Centre Phi — a major hub of innovative and interactive arts in Montreal.
Confabulation is a national storytelling series presented in Montreal, Toronto, and Victoria. Executive Director Matt Goldberg and producers based in the three cities host monthly storytelling shows that feature personal, true, and poignant stories told by the people who lived them. Stories come from both amateurs and professionals, artists and laypeople, anyone and everyone with a story to share. The night is curated, with stories chosen and workshopped to highlight a range of experiences. This month’s event features stories from boxing judge and media events producer, Johanne Pelletier; General Manager of the District 3 innovation hub, Noor El-Bawab; poet and storyteller Isabelle St. Pierre, and more.
Although Confabulation has been running a monthly storytelling show for eight years, 2017 is the first year that the show has joined the Intercultural Storytelling Festival of Montreal. Under the leadership of Stephanie Beneteau, the festival has developed its English language programming significantly. As Matt Goldberg, Confabulation’s Executive Director explains: “we started out with the goal of collaborating with the incredible wealth of artists in this city. Working with the intercultural Storytelling Festival is just a perfect fit for our mandate — to create a common space for storytelling in this city. We’re so grateful to work with so many other great storytellers in this city.”
