Call for applications: Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal’s Young Creators Unit

Young Creators Unit

Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal (PWM) is looking for creator/performers under the age of 30 interested in developing new pieces for the stage. Starting in October, PWM will opens its studio doors every Sunday, for five months, to unit members interested in receiving training and development through creation workshops, and one-on-one dramaturgy and direction.

Led by playwright, dramaturg and director Jesse Stong, unit participants will be supported in creating a new piece of theatre. As a participant you will also receive assistance in applying for further funding and creation opportunities. The Young Creators Unit will culminate in a public presentation of the work created.

Second season of the Young Creators Unit will begin Sunday, October 2, 2016. There is no fee for participation.

Founded in 1963 and incorporated in 1966, Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal (PWM) is a national new play creation centre established to support the development of professional playwrights and contemporary work for the stage. Our core programming is designed to advance the artistic practice of emerging and established English language professional theatre artists, and to develop, support and disseminate their work. The commissioning and dramaturgy of work in translation is also an important component of our programming. Our focus is the process of development, whether written or devised, at all stages of creation.
