On this wonderful summer weekend, (June 16th to 19th) Montreal makes way for a musical parade as multiple shows make their opening and closing performances in theatres across town. Here’s what’s happening that you won’t want to miss:
June 10 – June 18: BYE BYE BIRDIE presented by WISTA. Based on the true story of Elvis Presley’s draft notice into the army, this critically acclaimed production of the hilarious and high-energy Tony Award-winning Broadway musical comedy plays its final weekend of performances at the Louise Chalmers Theatre. June 18 – June 18: RAISE YOUR VOICE! – A GLORIOUS BROADWAY REVUE presented by the Lyric Theatre Singers. With 47 performers and 5 musicians, this award-winning vocal ensemble delivers an uplifting and inspiring collection of Broadway favourites at the D.B. Clarke Theatre. Tickets from $17 – 36.
June 19 – July 10: THE PRODUCERS presented by the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre in association with the Côte-Saint-Luc Dramatic Society. Mel Brooks’ record-breaking, laugh-out-loud spectacle makes its Yiddish Premiere at the Segal Centre this Sunday. Tickets from $32 – 64
June 15 – June 19: RETURN TO GRACE presented by Evenko. A glorious, heartfelt tribute to music icon Elvis Presley featuring over 30 singers, dancers and musicians on stage. Relive the greatest musical moments of a generation at Place des Arts until this Sunday. Tickets from $45 – 112.
June 9 – June 9: CAPTAIN AURORA II: A SUPERHERO MUSICAL SEQUEL presented by Kaleidoscope Theatre. We couldn’t help but include a Fringe Festival show in our ranks, and at the top of them is the delightful sequel to the award-winning Captain Aurora, playing at the LaChapelle Theatre. Tickets $12
June 15 – July 28: MARY POPPINS presented by Just for Laughs. A special nod to this spectacular French language adaptation of the classic Disney story, which is the mainstage musical production of the Just for Laughs festival this year. Playing at the St-Denis Theatre until the end of July. Tickets $32 – 160
