The Mountain, The Truth & The Paradise

November 21 @ 8:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)
Performances from November 21-24
Agora de la Danse – Édifice Wilder, 1435 Rue de Bleury #102
Montreal, QC H3A 2H7 Canada

Now in his fifties, Pep Ramis explores the formidable machine that is the body with a poetic solo that questions the sense of the divine and the profane, spirituality and ignorance, the beautiful and the banal. The dancer’s transformations occur on a white stage stripped bare, where precise movement and dialogue form the basic structure of a constantly shifting theatrical journey that is quite moving. Supported by a dense soundscape, Ramis transports the audience into a new fiction as he casts his gaze on the tragicomedy of the human condition.

De la glorieuse fragilité

November 28 @ 8:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)
Performances from November 28 - December 1
Agora de la Danse – Édifice Wilder, 1435 Rue de Bleury #102
Montreal, QC H3A 2H7 Canada

By revealing the fragility of the body, Karine Ledoyen serves as a witness to what was and what will be.

Advancing age? Injury? The arrival of a child? What was the tipping point?  To achieve a sensitive, accurate portrayal, research included testimonials from several generations of dancers who experienced loss or grief – what they had accomplished through dance, and sometimes what they had hoped to achieve through dance but did not. Blending fiction and reality onstage, the choreographer wants the spectator to feel that vibrant corollary between the powerful attraction of a beautiful art form and the ultimate difficulty in letting go of it, to accept and mourn its passing.

Performances from December 5-8
Agora de la Danse – Édifice Wilder, 1435 Rue de Bleury #102
Montreal, QC H3A 2H7 Canada

ATTABLER is the result of a series of interdisciplinary seminars attended by dance professionals and visual artists at Agora de la danse over a two-year period, a series initiated by Katya Montaignac. These informal experimentations included workshops, lectures and discussions, and led to rich exchanges about open-ended themes: performance, identity and resistance in art. Combining feminist, philosophical and aesthetic approaches, the project followed up on experiences shared during the exploratory process involving artists and researchers.
