The Secret in the Wings

October 17 @ 8:00 pm
Casgrain Theatre, 21275 Lakeshore Road
Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC H9X 3L9 Canada

The John Abbott College Department of Theatre and Music presents Mary Zimmerman's "The Secret in the Wings" directed by Andrew Cuk at the Casgrain Theatre October 17-22.

A young girl's parents get the neighbor next door to babysit, but fail to realize that he is, in fact, an OGRE!!!!. To make matters worse, the child's father has stolen a red rose from the ogre's garden. Over the course of the night, as the ogre reads to the girl, his fantastical tales of love and transformation spring to life in this theatrical adaptation of several lesser-known fairy tales.

Framed within an updated version of Charles Perrault's classic "Beauty and the Beast", Mary Zimmerman takes six lesser-known fairy tales and creates a dark and witty re-telling that revels in theatrical inventiveness. The play takes us on a journey to the most profound lesson of fairy tales: you must love a thing before it is lovable.
