The Segal Centre for Performing Arts presents

Once There Was a Melody

A Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre production

A COLLECTION OF HEARTFELT SONGS AND STORIES THAT WILL STIR EMOTIONS, LIFT SPIRITS, AND FILL YOU WITH JOY!

Once There Was a Melody, a staged reading featuring a live band, based on the Israeli musical Ish Hasid Haya by Dan Almagor, is being presented by the Segal Centre from April 15th to 19th, 2018, in honour of Israel’s 70th birthday.

Once There Was a Melody is a montage of songs and stories exploring the heights ordinary people can reach through good intentions and good deeds. At times sweet, at times funny, and at times strong, the show is brought to life through the intertwined music, dancing, and tales of humble people who show that you don’t need to be a great scholar to earn your place in the world to come. This staged reading is presented in Yiddish with English supertitles.

The sublime songs have been beloved for several generations of DWYT performers – and now it’s a new generation’s turn to experience this compelling production.
