LEMON TREE / INDRIT KASAPI
Thursday August 16 + Friday August 17, 8pm
@ MAI, Montréal Arts Interculturels

Presented as part of the 3rd Annual Queer Performance Camp

MSM [men seeking men] is a dance/theatre piece inspired by transcripts of online conversations between men who seek other men. Indrit Kasapi has created a world of electronic beats where music is the omnipotent power, and through choreography, movement, and text, deconstructs online male personas and their personal exchanges with other men. Presented to critical acclaim in June 2013 at Toronto Fringe Festival, the piece had its World Premiere as part of the WorldPride Festivities in Toronto in June 2014 and was nominated for 6 Broadway World Toronto Awards including Best Independent Theatre Production.

Queer Performance Camp aims to create new ways to connect, grow and build community, while supporting the development of queer artists through a program of shows, workshops, and gatherings. It is collaboratively presented by Studio 303, MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) and La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines. On the agenda: two shows, four workshops for artists and several gatherings!

In these often uncertain and existentially challenging times, Queer Performance Camp emerges for its third edition! Seeking to provide a playful respite by and for the queer community, the Camp revels in the multifaceted nature of being human in all of its beauty and complexity, by encouraging dialogue and encounter between individuals and artistic practices; in short, being together! Invited artists explore animal states, interconnectedness, and making others laugh.

Decidedly outsider, Queer Performance Camp is a space to discover undisciplined artists and their non-binary and decentralizing approaches to power. It offers a world of possibilities and rainbows to which everyone is welcome and invited!
