AN IMMERSIVE THRILLER
A woman returns to her storage unit to take one last look before getting rid of everything she has accumulated over the years. As she approaches her unit, a sense of dread comes over her, as if she is standing on the edge of a terrifying chasm. Overwhelmed by her memories, trapped in a tight space, she tries to make sense of her surroundings. She arrives with her key. Enter with her.
French and English versions of the performances are presented alternately.
You will need a key. Your key. The key that will allow you to enter. You will receive your key upon arrival.
With Unit B-1717, Théâtre à corps perdus begins a new site-specific cycle called Nocturnales. These three creations explore the desires that get us going and the fears that paralyze us. Three disoriented female figures try to find their way as they face realities they can no longer ignore. Three journeys in the dead of night bursting with flames that illuminate unpredictable paths. Coming soon: Somnambules (visite libre), in 2019 and je ne sais pas si je vais revenir, in 2020.
Théâtre à corps perdus was born from the desire to evoke what we dare not speak. We are drawn to texts that challenge us to search the troubled, hidden and vertiginous recesses of our lives. Site-specific creation is one of the tenants of our work. We question the ritual of theatre and wish to ‘move’ our viewers, offering them an immersive experience. Our creations interweave the real and the fictional to orchestrate intimate theatrical moments that are both captivating and disturbing. The architecture of the spaces we inhabit become the backdrop of the work, spaces that resonate with their own meaning and stories. These urban meetings anchor our work in being with one another here and now. Local | Unit B-1717 is Théâtre à corps perdus’ ninth creation.
