Call for ASM/SM/AD/Lighting Designer for Snowglobe Theatre’s “Proof” and “Hamlet”

Snowglobe Theatre is a dynamic young English-language theatre company, now entering its third season with two fully-staged productions:

  • Proof by David Auburn at Mainline Theatre (March 7-17)
  • Shakespeare’s Hamlet at Espace Knox (May 2-12)

Snowglobe’s mission is to promote the love of English language theatre in Montreal, and to provide opportunities for new and emerging artists in Montreal to hone their craft.

To that end, the company is putting out a call for the following positions:

  • Stage Manager (Proof): Some stage management experience required. The SM will be responsible for running shows. The SM must be present for some rehearsals throughout December to March, especially nearing the performance dates, and for all dates from March 4 to March 17.
  • Stage Manager (Hamlet): Some stage management experience required. The SM will be responsible for running shows. The SM must be present for some rehearsals throughout December to May, especially nearing the performance dates, and for all dates from April 29 to March 17.
  • Assistant Stage Manager (Hamlet): No stage management experience required. The ASM will be responsible for supporting the actors during rehearsals, coordinating communication with the cast, and assisting the SM in their duties during the show. The ASM must be present for all rehearsals throughout December to May and available from April 29 to March 17.
  • Assistant Director (Hamlet): The AD will be responsible for supporting the director during rehearsals. The AD must be available for as many rehearsals as possible throughout December to May and available from April 29 to March 17. Applicants with no directing experience will be considered, and if selected the process would take on more of a mentorship and educational format.
  • Lighting Designer (Proof): Some experience required. The lighting designer must be present for production meetings leading up to the show, for tech, and for opening.
  • Lighting Designer (Hamlet): Some experience required. The lighting designer must be present for production meetings leading up to the show, for tech, and for opening.

Note that all positions will receive an honorarium. Additionally, since one important focus of Snowglobe’s mandate is to help build artistic skills, if desired a strong emphasis will be put on education and training for any of these positions regardless of prior level of experience.

Please provide the position and production you are applying for in the subject of the email, and send it to snowglobetheatre@gmail.com.
