Call for applicants to ARTISTA – Imago’s free artist mentorship program for young women

New cycle to run from January 21st to May 17th, 2019

Imago Theatre is now accepting applications for its new cycle of ARTISTA, a free mentorship program for young women running in 2019 from January 21st to May 17th.

WHAT IS ARTISTA?

ARTISTA is a FREE theatre arts mentorship program for women who are interested in creating, collaborating and learning through theatre. ARTISTA is a safe environment to explore personal, artistic and creative development.

WHO IS ARTISTA FOR?

ARTISTA is for women between the ages of 16-21 who have an interest in exploring theatre, collaborating with new people and learning about theatre as an art and as a profession. ARTISTA participants do not need to have previous theatre or arts experience to participate in the program. Imago strongly encourages applications from differently abled individuals, neurodiverse individuals, visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The program prioritizes applications from individuals without the financial or parental support to pursue arts mentorship.

WHEN AND WHERE DOES ARTISTA TAKE PLACE?

ARTISTA takes place at the Georges-Vanier Cultural Centre (5 minute walk from the Lionel Groulx Metro).

ARTISTA takes place every Monday (5:00-9:00pm) from January 21st-May 17th, 2019 (15 weeks)

HOW DOES ARTISTA WORK?

ARTISTA participants (15 people) participate in 4 hour weekly workshops.

Each session starts with a free meal followed by a 3 hour theatre workshop led by professionals in the Montreal theatre community and female leaders in arts and non-arts related fields.

Over 15 weeks, participants tell stories that are woven into a collective creation/performance that is presented in front of an audience.

HOW DO YOU APPLY TO ARTISTA?

Apply to ARTISTA at www.imagotheatre.ca/joinartista1819/ before January 4th, 2019. The team will get in touch with you by January 17th regarding their decision. The first workshop will be the following week, January 21st at Georges-Vanier Cultural Centre.

Participants are asked to reserve Monday, January 14th from 5:00-8:00pm off so that program directors can meet with you in person to get to know you better.
