Segal Academy

The Segal Centre Academy is a professionally staffed educational facility at the Segal Centre that offers high-calibre performing arts courses and workshops for children and young adults. The Academy nurtures creativity, collaboration and talent in drama, musical theatre, music, and dance.

NTS – National Theatre School of Canada

NTS’ youth programs are inspired by the rigour and excellence of NTS’ core professional training programs. They cover various theatre professions, with workshops in voice, listening, movement, text analysis, scenography, costume design and stage management. Classes are led by Canada’s leading theatre professionals.

Program: Summer Intensive
Ages: 15 – 17 years old
Dates: July 30th – August 10th (2 weeks)

Fee: $350.00 (No audition required, but a mandatory meeting will be held around mid-July)

Geordie Theatre School

At Geordie Theatre School (GTS), children and teens have the opportunity to build a solid foundation in acting by learning the craft from some of Geordie’s favorite theatre professionals who are passionate about teaching the next generation. This 2018 summer as part of Repercussion Theatre’s Shakespeare-Before-the-Show series, GTS will be leading a workshop for youth before select performances of “Romeo & Juliet” .

Overture with the Arts

Overture with the Arts (OWTA) is a non-profit organization based in Montreal offering education in music, dance, drama and vocal training. OWTA’s free and low-cost programs enable young people to pursue their passion in the performing arts at accessible rates. This summer, kids and teens will be able to hone their skills in a new musical theatre program that provides participants with the opportunity to perform in a production at the end of the session.

Broadway Academy

Broadway Academy Westmount offers multiple courses and workshops specializing in music and musical theatre performance at the basic, advanced, and professional levels. In addition to providing conservatory style programs, the academy hosts workshops and masterclasses with guest artists performing on Broadway and in touring productions of New York musicals.

Teen Tour Theatre

Montreal’s original Teen Touring Theatre school offers acting classes for children, teens, and young adults at all levels (beginner to professional). Workshop programs include Auditioning for TV and Film, Theatre, Musical Theatre, Directing, Improvisation, Stage Combat and more.

Roper Theatre Academy

Roper Theatre Academy is Montréal South Shore’s only English-language youth theatre school. Its mission is to provide a structured and nurturing environment for participants, guiding them in their pursuit of the dramatic arts. Programs are designed for children and teens of all artistic abilities and levels.

Program: Summer Musical Theatre Program
Ages: 7 – 15 years old
Dates: July 9th – 27th, 2018 (15 days; participants must register for all 3 weeks due to the performance component)
Fee: $300.00 per week ​(Special Package: 3-week Musical Theatre Program with full Day Care service for $1000.00)

  • Work with trained, professional directors on a full musical theatre production
  • Training in Acting, singing and dancing
  • Performance on Friday, July 27th at 7pm – includes costumes, make-up, and stage experience

Program: Summer Theatre Arts Program
Ages: 7 – 15 years old
Dates: Week 1: July 30th to August 3rd; Week 2: August 6th to 10th; Week 3: August 13th to 17th; Week 4: August 20th to 24th (Participants may register for any combination of weeks)
Fee: $200.00 per week

  • All artistic disciplines will be covered each week
  • Trained professionals guide participants through the exploration of acting, singing, dancing, and visual arts
  • On Fridays at 5pm, children will perform in a weekly variety show

Program: Summer Teen Program
Ages: 13 – 15 years old
Dates: August 13th – 17th, 2018 (1 week)
Times: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (supervision available before 10am)

  • A small cast of 14 teens will explore the world of bullying through a brand-new play, “Before The Bell”, from Beat by Beat Press
  • Performance on Friday, August 17th at 7pm includes costumes, make-up, and stage experience

Rising Stars Jr.

Originating from Vancouver, B.C., Rising Stars Jr. Acting Conservatory is moving to Montreal’s West Island in August 2017! Classes provide a fun, safe and educational space for youth to explore their inner performers at any skill level. The summer 2018 end-of-program presentation will be a stage performance of the musical Annie Jr.

MTL Acting

Montreal Children’s Theatre

Over 10,000 Montrealers have attended classes at The Children’s Theatre since the school was founded in 1933 by Montreal legends Dorothy Davis and Violet Walters. The curriculum focuses on raising students’ level of self-confidence, employing techniques that bring out creativity and personality in young people.

M.S.O.P.A.

Serving Montreal’s Acting community for 25 years, M.S.O.P.A offers serious training in a safe, fun, and challenging environment, developing a craft that allows students to be truthful, emotionally alive and that helps them find the courage to express their thoughts. Students leave this workshop with an increased sense of self-esteem and confidence, as well as a growing love for the performing arts. The Summer Day Camp provides training in Singing, Movement, Improvisation, Scene Work, On Camera Work, Film Making, and Voice Over and includes industry field trips and networking opportunities.
