WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT = IMPORTANT
Imago Theatre, a Montreal theatre company that catalyzes conversation, advocates for equal representation and acts as hub for stories about unstoppable women is now accepting applications for their ARTISTA free mentorship program for young women between the ages of 16-21.
“This program – which offers professional mentorship, theatre workshops, free meals and tickets to see professional productions around the city… has already established itself as a space to nurture the voices of young, artistically and community-inclined women.”
– ARTISTA Program Director Joy-Ross Jones
ARTISTA provides 15 young women with free access to 15 weeks of empowering and community-building theatre mentorship with professionals in the field. ARTISTA is for women who are interested in creating, collaborating and learning through theatre. The program is a safe, non-competitive environment for young women to explore personal, artistic and creative development. Participants are not required to have previous theatre or arts experience before applying and they can do so at www.imagotheatre.ca. The deadline to submit applications to ARTISTA is January 11th, 2017.
ARTISTA has already received support from foundations, corporations and fundraising initiatives and is only $5,000 away from being able to offer free theatre mentorship to 15 young women.
